4 cups sugar
6 cups water
1 teaspoon food favour {like vanilla}
1/2 teaspoon chilli powder or to taste (optional)
1/2 teaspoon black pepper (optional)
2 teaspoons Red food colour
Resealable snack bags or an airtight container
Method:
A} In a pot add water, sugar, chilli powder, black pepper, food flavour and food colour. Cook on high heat stove
B} Mix the mixture and let it cook.
C} Mean while sift the ubuyu flour / powder, then mix ubuyu powder and milk powder together. Set aside
D} Remove anything that’s not supposed to be in seeds {if that’s necessary} and set aside as seen in the video
E} Once the syrup starts to cook, you will see lots of bubbles foaming up the pot. Keep mixing and stirring and let it cook. When the syrup starts to bubble down, it means the syrup has started to thicken and check to see if the syrup is stick, but make sure is not too sticky.
F} Switch off the stove and divide the syrup into two halves and set one aside
G} Add ubuyu seeds into a hot syrup and mix well, do this process quicker for better results
H} add the mixture of ubuyu flour / powder and milk powder, mix very well. G} Also add the syrup as needed {as seen in the video}
I} Continue mixing until the syrup starts to crystallize and starts coating on the ubuyu seeds.
J} Then transfer the sugar coated ubuyu to a big plate or tray
K} Let the ubuyu cool completely. Now your ubuyu is now ready to be eaten and you can pack your ubuyu in resealable snack bags or an airtight container
Enjoy!
