Ingredients:
600grams Dried green peas
1 Big Onion
1 Tin tomato
1 Tablespoon Ginger and garlic paste
1 Tablespoon curry powder
1/2 teaspoon Chilli powder or to taste
2 tablespoons coconut powder
50 gram creamed coconut
2 Fresh green chillies or to taste
Method:
A} Soak green peas in water overnight
B} Add enough water and salt. Bring it to boil until soft.
C} Heat oil in a pot.
D} Sauté chopped onions for a minute
E} Add ginger and garlic paste and sauté well till the onion become light brown colour.
F} Add sliced tomato and cook it till it become mushy.
G} Add all spice powders and sauté well for 2-3 minutes on low flames. You can add 2-3 tablespoons of water or tomato juice from the tomato in this stage.
H} both coconuts {powder and cream}, cook for 2 to 3 minutes
I} Now Add well cooked green peas and mix it.
J} Add enough water, about 1 cup.
k} Add whole fresh chillies
L} Reduce the flame and Cook for 2-3 minutes.
M} Adjust the salt
N} Serve with flat breads like chapti, naan, or maandazi or ugali or rice etc.
