Ingredients:
2 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/4 teaspoon salt or to taste
1 tablespoon butter
1 cube magi spice
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/3 cup water as needed
1 egg
1 egg wash
FILLING
About 500 g boiled minced, boiled with ginger paste, garlic paste and salt. All to taste {you can use chicken or any meat}
1/2 cup peas or to taste
4 spring onions, finely chopped
Coriander leaves to taste, finely chopped
1 small to medium Grated carrots to taste
1 teaspoon Black pepper
1 teaspoon Ginger powder
1 teaspoon Garlic powder
1 tablespoon olive oil
Assembling:
Beat an egg to make an egg wash. Set aside.
Make flour paste as seen in the video {few spoons of flour and water}
For Filling:
A} Put boiled chicken or meat in a pot
B} Add green peas and let if cook for few minute
C} Add carrots and let it cook for few minutes again
D} Add spices including magi
E} Stir in spring onions and cook for 2 to 4 minutes stirring occasionally to avoid your mince meat/ chicken to burn
F} Add coriander leave and cook for a minute, stirring constantly
G} when you are done, put it aside to get cold
Method Pastry:
H} In a large bowl, combine flour, turmeric, baking powder and salt, mix thoroughly.
I} Rub butter into flour until small pieces of the butter completely covered with flour
J} Pour in 1/2 cup cold water and mix with your hand to bring the dough together
K} Keep adding water bit by bit at a time until the mixture forms a dough
L} Cut the dough into 2 large pieces, wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes before using it. Meanwhile go ahead and make the filling.
M} Flour the work surface and rolling pin
N} Take one of the large pieces and roll out into a large circle.
O} Take a small bowl or cup with a wide or a cookie cutter, nice rim and cut out 3 to 4 circles.
P} Place about 1 to 1 and 1/2 heaped tablespoons of the filling onto one half of each circle
Q} Dip a finger into the flour paste and moisten the edges of the pastry
R} Fold over the other half and press to seal, use a fork to do this.
S} Cut off any extra to make it look neat and uniform, do this if this is necessary
T} Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet
U} Continue to work until you have rolled all the dough and filled the patties.
V} Brush the patties with egg wash.
W} Bake them for 25 – 30 minutes or until golden brown.
X} Cool on wire racks.
Y} Serve warm and enjoy!
